Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin specially required for birds that do not produce enough of it themselves, such as parrots, cockatoos, and canaries (recessive white canaries). In nature, birds with curved beaks often feed on vitamin A-rich foods. However, seeds for birds like recessive white canaries usually contain very little vitamin A, making dietary supplementation necessary. Recessive white canaries cannot convert provitamin A into active vitamin A, so direct addition to their diet is essential.

Feeding Guide

Canaries: 1 drop every 4 days. Small parakeets: 1 drop every 3 days. Large parakeets: 2 drops every 2 days. Parrots / Cockatoos: 3 drops every 2 days.

Transitioning Instructions

Begin by mixing 75% of the current food with 25% of the new dog/cat food for the first 3–4 days. Gradually adjust the ratio to 50% current food and 50% new food for the next 3–4 days. Then, mix 25% current food with 75% new food for another 3–4 days. Transition to 100% new dog/cat food. Ensure a gradual change over 10–14 days to prevent digestive upset. Always provide fresh water, and monitor your pet’s health and appetite during the transition
